Aurora's Eyes

When Aurora was born, the first thing Orion noticed was her eyes. They were Beautiful and Blue like the western sky, shining like a thousand stars from a distant galaxy. and Aurora, blinking in the light, used them to stare up at Orion. They were laughing eyes from the start. They were full of brand new life. They were innocent, absent of memories. Unaware of the things they would see. The eyes were large and dominated the baby's small round face. In that moment they were all Orion could see. Their intensity penetrated into Orion's soul, and though it shook him, he could not turn away. It was only a moment, but it was forever.
