Banana

The
War was
won and life
was getting back
to normal once more.
To the convalescent
War hero in hospital
the sight and taste of a fresh ripe
banana was better medicine
than any pill he had been made to take.

Author Notes: During WW2 bananas had not been available in the UK. It was a source of much joy when the first shipment arrived almost immediately after the war.
