Chapter 3 and 4 of Holding Onto Hope

By Aspen-Faye

Chapter 3 on a mission

There were bright billboards on just about everything. I squinted my eyes. even though I lived in new york didn't mean I went to times square every day. I mean that's where the most expensive food was. There were billboards on soap, clothes, new movies and songs coming out. All the bright lights blinded me as I tried to find a cafe to rest in. If I was out on the street to long I could be reported. I was looking for “beans ‘n cream cafe”, there I knew I was safe from the reporters and the police.

Chapter 4 Beans ‘n Cream Cafe

The cafe was on the corner of Broadway Street ,where all of the billboards and bright lights seemed to die off, just my spot. The street wasn’t super packed and it was lit by the soft glow of streetlamps. Trees dotted the 4 lane road and the sidewalks were clean but needed a new coat of cement or paint to get rid of the occasional gum. Beans ‘n Cream Cafe stood on the corner it was a simple building with apartments on top. Even from outside you could smell the coffee and pastries, there were large inviting glass windows and a brown door with a small gold bell on the top with a sign that said welcome.there was a small welcome mat with a cup of coffee printed on it. I stood outside for a couple of minutes admiring the quirkiness of it all then I went inside. And right there was maggie the one who helped me get throught it all.
