Escape is less a wish and more a plea

Less a want and more a need

“Escape from what?” you ask,

My problem lies therein.

For I have no reason to feel this way,

No reason not to stay.

There is no awful inner pain.

No screaming voices,

Just a ceaseless gray.

Insidious as I lay

Alone in my bed.

A girl by my side.

But still, still, still I pray.

Still I ask, and still I plead.

There are no tears.

Nothing left inside.

I beg for release.

I don't care to go searching,

But I will if I must.

I’ll seek out the help

Of a knife or a pill.

I’ll do what must be done,

However dark the deed.

I’ll do what I must,

With a rope or a gun.

I’ll do what must be done

So…. goodbye I suppose.
