Dreams and Reality
Dreams and Reality

“Dreamland”
The wind is whispering past in a haze of summer
A butterfly on the ground, you reach out and touch her
Sunlight trickling in as mellow as a smile
My feet touch the grass, I laugh like a child
There’s no time and all time, it’s just a place we live in
There’s good times and bad times, we wait for one to begin
It’s happened before, they made your heart ache
It’ll happen again, but you won’t let it break
We sit as pollen sighs through the trees
A bright wishful sky, clouds rolling with ease
It’s calmer here than it’s even been before
There’s good times and bad times, and there will always be more
“Sinking Ship”
On the days when my heart feels heavy with despair
I look around for a shoulder to cry on
Nobody is there, nobody really cares
Strange looks and confusion, my eyes begin to water
I fall behind, running a race in my sleep
I fail to catch up, to stay tall on my feet
I’m a submarine, underwater so cold
I gasp for air, I sink, I strangle, but “Keep going,” is all I’m told
Yet I’m expected to, day after day, with no struggle at all
I’m the Titanic, going under while people gape at the helm
But what they don’t understand is I want to excel just as much as all of them
Keep pushing, keep pulling, while I’m just trying to stay afloat
