No one nears the nest at night
Even at dawn, they stay away
The rare souls who dare in daylight
Are the bristling fay
Winged demons circle above
Letting loose lusty lament
Even those who cannot love
Fall into deep resent
Who will rise and smother the bane
That rises dire torment?
Who would dare to endure the pain
Moreover, mad decent?
Avis nears the nest at sundown
Is she foolish or is she strong?
Clothe in iron and a crimson gown
She breaks into tragic song
A woosh! As the demons scatter
Another as the fay disperse
Ere long the nest will shatter
Free from its binding curse
