I know what I feel,
Is not real,
I want it to be,
Can’t you see?
The characters I make,
I wish they were not fake,
These delusions in my mind,
Aren’t that hard to find,
I can’t seem to do anything,
I’m too busy daydreaming,
This better version of myself,
I keep the stories on a shelf,
I know it’s not real,
But I just can’t heal,
From this,
Maladaptive daydreaming
Author Notes: Maladaptive daydreaming is a disorder in which a person creates another version of themselves within daydreams. The daydreams are not always perfect, but they're scenarios that the victim finds themselves fantasizing in. Often times the daydreams can affect the victim, as they are unable to commit to daily activities. Sometimes people envision themselves in one or multiple different dreams. During a daydream someone may find themselves fidgeting, making facial expressions, or even interacting with the daydream. It can be hard to diagnosis because many people feel that if they were to attempt to reach out to someone they would be considered crazy. However the victim of maladaptive daydreaming is not crazy due to they know the difference between reality and imagination. Maladaptive daydreaming can be a symptom of multiple mental disorders.
