Monsters Under Our Beds

By Poet

The monsters under our bed

Are there to protect and defend

The little ones they love

Until the very end.

They scared away the ghosts

Didn't even let them touch the bedpost.

So now we find real question is,

Can monsters be good?

If they are,

Do we need to redefine the monsters

From bad to good?

The ones that watch and love us,

Until we finally die?

When in this life we say goodbye,

Do our monsters go and find,

A new little baby to care for,

Or do they retire?

Is there a land of monsters

Where they all wander,

Thinking about the old days,

When they watched us play?

Do they miss us,

Even though,

We were terrified of them,

While they loved us so?
