Neither Here Nor There

Mom always left a note

She signed it with care

But when Big Sister got home

The note was neither here nor there

Little Sis, Where is Mom’s Note?

It has to be somewhere near

"I do not know," said Lil Sis

I guess it is neither here nor there

They looked for the note in the living room

It wasn’t by the couch or the stairs

Where could Mom’s note be?

It was neither here nor there

Then they saw Dad napping

He was snoring on his favorite chair

And what was sticking from his shirt pocket

Was that Mom’s note in there?

So they tiptoed to Dad

He was sleeping like a bear

Was that really Mom’s note

They crouched closer and got near

Big Sis lifted Little Sis over Dad

They tried to be quiet so Dad couldn’t hear

Little Sis stabbed it and then grabbed it

Little Sis was right there, the note was right here

As big Sis unfolded the note

She stood on her dog’s floppy ear

He let out such a bark

It woke Dad who was sleeping there

Dad jumped really high

He flew out of his chairr

Big Sis looked at the note

And said, "Oh My Dear!"

The note said that dinner is on the table

That Mom cut up some steak medium rare

And that Dad may be napping somewhere

So don’t wake Dad–he is sleeping either Here or There
