By Rachel Elizabeth

She hears the phone ringing. After taking one look at the number she hits decline. Not now, not tonight. She walks to her closet and searches for something nice. Tonight isn't suppoesed to be about him. She slips on a tight red dress and a set of strappy gold heels and walks back to the living room. Her phone vibrates. The notifcation reads:

One new voicemail

She rolls her eyes and picks it up, bracing to hear what last touch of hurt he wants to leave her with. Even though she doesn't want to, she is willing to hear what he has to say.

...

What he says takes her by surprise. She starts pacing around the couch.

"Meet me at our spot at 8:00," she types, "one last time. This better not be a joke."

She hits send then imediately blocks his number, she doesn't want a response.

She dials another number. Her friend answers.

"Hey what's up?"

"I might be late to the party tonight"

"Everything okay?"

"Yea just had something come up"

"Okay see you tonight"

"Alright bye"

"Bye, be safe"

She hangs up the phone. Walking back to the closet, she quickly grabs her purse. She takes off her dress and folds it into the bag, putting on a pair of ripped jeans and a loose black shirt instead.

She grabs her keys and walks out to her car. Taking a deep breath, she places her hands on the wheel.

It's time.
