Shopping

By Chantal

Reaching to search through my wardrobe,
Racing through the different clothes items
What more do I need?
So the human mind works
Greedy and never able to get enough.

Driving as a passenger in car,
What is my purpose today
What might give me pleasure,
Brighten up my day
Amidst the monotony of this pandemic
And all its drawbacks.

Picking out a top
In my favourite shop
Why not yellow?
That makes a change,
Awakening my passion for shopping
As the shop assistant reaches for
My banknote,
I feel a pang of my old self
Before lockdown
These sort of guilty pleasures,
At an uncertain time,
When money is short.
