Gwyn

β€œDeal.” Kol’s voice crackled through Gwen’s earpiece. β€œSee you in two days.” She heard chairs scrape against the floor, and a few moments later, she watched Vince and Tracey leave the restaurant. Shortly after, their friends followed. She stretched her arms overhead, enjoying her moment of triumph-

β€œHere’s the refill you asked for.”

-before someone inevitably ruined it. Kol slid into the seat across from her and handed her a drink. Gwyn took a long sip, not acknowledging his presence just yet. You had to wait until the guy was about to fall out of his seat, desperate to hear whatever you said next. Eventually, she turned to him with her most dazzling smile.

β€œNice work, Kol.”

Kol almost melted at the compliment. It took a comical amount of effort for him to control himself.

β€œThank you.”

Gwyn let her lips curl into a smirk. Her lipstick, deep red today, made a sharp contrast with her pale skin. For once, the expression felt genuine. Kol couldn’t see it, but a warmth had curled around her heart. She lived for this feeling, the unique spark she only felt when one of her plans was coming together perfectly.
