The Florist by the Sea

Next to the café where he had his tea,

Dwelt the magical Florist by the Sea.

‘Our friends haven’t wants; their needs are higher.

They love our blooms and buy with desire!

*

Her eyes shone as bright as a sunny day.

Her clothes more brilliant than any bouquet.

Her keen knowledge was strong, her wit was sharp,

Her voice was melodious as a harp…

*

The amazing young Florist by the Sea,

The loveliest one he ever did see,

Watched him as he proudly entered her shop.

The world stood still; time came to a stop…

*

‘I want a wedding none have seen before.

I will pay for your work; I am not poor.’

‘Have you any plans?’, the florist replied,

‘Get ready for this!’, her customer sighed.

*

‘I want flowers so grand none will forget,

An extravaganza, not just a bit!

For our wedding I want flowers all ‘round

Garlands to each side, bouquets on the ground!’

*

‘What do you think? Have you any fine schemes?’

She responded, ‘I have wonderful dreams!’

‘Tonight, I’ll speak to my great subconscious.

‘Tomorrow noon we’ll discuss plans for us!’

*

All were surprised at the flowers they found.

Flowers weren’t at the sides, they weren’t around.

All gazed at the beauty they came upon.

Lo! The hanging gardens of Babylon!

*

Blooms hung from the ceiling cascading down,

Blazing flowers made a rainbow in town!

Red, white and pink blooms dangled from above,

Equalled feelings of the couple in love.

*

Two beauties marched up the holy aisle.

One lead the bride; she wore a great smile.

‘Who is that flower girl?’ ‘Who can she be?’

Mum replied, ‘Just our Florist by the Sea!’
