The spirit of sorrow

The spirit of sorrow
he does not sleep
he does not dream
she looks flat
the sun on
hazy gray
sea
and sinks
in a perennial
vigil
punishment
conviction.
In the iris of each
dawn
beyond silver
moon
there
flicker
her eyelids
broken by
light
of her blind
destiny.
