Things Change

I smile on the outside,
I cry on the inside,
You see nothing wrong.
I try to tell you,
But you shut me out.
Listen to me,
To the words coming out of my mouth.
I'm not the sweet girl you think,
Not anymore at least,
You changed that.
When you shut me out.
Now you wanna listen?
Well I won't talk.
Because I know how this ends.
So I make you watch,
As I stop listening,
And I shut down.
My smile disappears,
And the tears become visible.
As the hot tears stream down my face,
And my sobs get louder,
You try to help,
But I push you away.
Because you never cared before.
And when you need me most,
I stop showing up.
Because you are never there for me.
I separate myself,
And you hate it.
But you started,
When you shut me out.
Maybe next time you'll listen,
But it won't be to me.
Because I'm not giving you that chance.
And I'm not breaking down again,
Not because of you at least.
