At the top of the hill
The Giant rests
Laying in wait
Always there
Always ready

The boy,
A poet with
Words in his heart
Stares up ready
To Climb

He knows it’s there
Hovering over all
Naïve
Ready to defeat
That beast

He climbs
And he climbs
And again,
He’ll climb
Forgetting
What lies
In wait

For her
He will climb
And the next one
Ready to shout
From earth’s peak
Those words from
His heart

But it waits
And it is the brute
And the boy will learn
But not this time
