UP IN SMOKE

THIS IS A POEM AND A SHORT STORY...

There goes your dreams going up in smoke
there goes your dreams going up in smoke
Last night I watched you light up a cigarette and inhale depression
the silence of voice, the stern look on your face tells it all as you exhale your confessions
As your hopes and dreams float away in a cloud of smoke
You wonder how do I know you ?  I am you.
At least I'm who you better become, because you haven't even began to live
and you're talking about dying
you've tried to quit before you even thought about trying
But damn you don't look to happy, you need to learn to smile
because I see you when I look in the mirror
so I haven't looked in the mirror in a while
and you hate me because I'm who  you aught to be
I would kill you if I could but you're apart of me
so you can't die, no suicides out picture
so get your finger off the trigger
I don't care if you still miss her
she's gone now and she's  not coming back
she doesn't love you anymore, you need to move on from that
cause you're the one who started all those fights
you are the one who left her alone those nights
so there goes your dreams going up in smoke
and there goes your queen ripping up your love notes
and you're going to lose your life the same way you lost your wife
I'm not going to sugar coat the truth and say it's alright
cause this is getting old, I'm tired of seeing you look so pitiful
I can't even enjoy my own life because you make me feel so miserable
I keep telling you that what you do effects me to
and I know all of your dirty secrets and I've lost respect for you
so I will smoke this last cigarette with you and after this I'm leaving your sorry ass behind
but when the smoke cleared you disappeared
and there was no you it was just me looking into the mirror, staring at my own eyes
and damn... I must have been talking to myself the whole time.
