A Word After a Word After a Word

A Word After a Word After a Word

By Mitzi Danielson-Kaslik

What is the language of love?

The variety of the words that

Pass from between Lovers’ lips

That gallop through Lovers’ brains

And dance in the non-existent

Gap between Lovers’ forms

Where the night seeps in and

The darkness takes dominance

The starlit, opulent darkness,

It could not be simple sound

Without song nor siren for that

Is too mundane for Lovers’ lips to

Utter, but it is a soft sweet sound

Of a word after a word after a word

In harmony with each other

Filling the chaotic darkened silence

Between the white satin sheets

And I should know, because I heard

And said a word after a word after

A word.
