Would That I Could Change But A Moment In Time
By DavidNeve
Pale light falls like crystal shards,
As the stars move out to sea.
She traces the lines, so soft, so frail...
My heart hears, come to me.
As seasons rage against castle walls,
Sand falls through her hands.
She struggles broken, worn of heart,
A contest to merely stand.
Scarlet eyes make moonlight nights,
Seem as though day will never start.
A silent crow nods as one who knows,
While worlds are torn apart.
Tears long shed fall slowly now,
Love long lost, long dead.
She holds her body against the night,
And hopefully raises her head.
She sees you now, touching her heart,
It must be you, not me.
I have not the warrior's make,
Her champion I cannot be.
As death sails slowly, swiftly by,
A paradox of dread.
Starlight scatters chaotically,
Off the brilliant scales of red.
His neck bends ever gracefully,
His eyes glow crimson bright.
He sees the beach, the woman, the sand,
And seeks that place to light.
I have no clear memory beyond that moment,
I was bound by my own fear.
I have no skill to fight a Dragon,
But I could, at least, have been near.
Now I have no real days, and I suffer the nights,
My failure on display.
I'm forced to remember her endlessly,
As the scene starts-stops-and replays.
Pale light falls like crystal shards,
As the stars move out to sea.
She traces the lines, so soft, so frail...
My heart hears, come to me.
