You Say
You say that you will love me
As long as the stars shine.
You say that while the wind blows,
You will always be mine.
You say that you will love me,
But now there is no sign
My dear, that you spoke true
The night is dark, without a star,
No wind blows either near or far,
And now my heart bears sorrow's scar,
For I hear no more from you.
Over the mountains you went away,
They caught and killed you on that day.
My unseen lover, you would not stay,
By the light of sun or moon
Rivers you swam, but you were slain.
You will not come this way again,
And so I suffer grief and pain
And I sing this sweet, sad tune.
But none have seen me shed a tear
I, too will cross mountains here.
I have not yet wept for you.
All my bridges will break,
I'll be revenged for your dear sake,
Till death unties us two.
