Another formidable work, written in a classic style. The topic of familial loss, here wife and child, and ``ghosts´´ is given good words and well-written dialogue lines.
Hell of a story ya got here. Reminds me of an in-depth interview like on 60 minutes and 20/20.
Not much repetition in terms of adjectives and verbs, but mostly consisted words that most books wouldn't have which deserves an astounding (or what you might call, 'elephantine, copious, monumental') round of applause.
You keep saying the same thing several times, not least how hortrible the monster is. You can say it only a few times and we get the message. When severed heads arrive in a box we can see this thing is violent. You tell us our hero was born to a peasant, then he wasn't nobly born. Its clear he's not if his parents were peasants.
The plot will appeal to lovers of fantasy, just try to avoid over writing
