"You can try fixing it. But there's no avoiding cutting yourself with the broken glass."

"It's easy. We stop caring. Caring is fundemental, son. Imagine if people didn't care about anything. About their families, their homes, their life. Our entire society would fall apart. People would rob banks. If they get put in jail, they wouldn't care. People would stop paying for things. People would break and shatter things. And people would stop caring about themselves, too."

"Lots of people don't care about themselves anymore, Dad."

"I know. Things are going downhill, son. Things are starting to fall apart."

"It's scary to think this way."

"The world is as it is. Just don't think about it too much."
