No, not your voice.
I mean a voice that tells you what to do. A voice that you usually argue with. A voice in your head that doesn't sound like your own.
Okay, what about other voices?
They talk endlessly. About nothing. About everything. They never stop. And I don't know whose voices they are. I assume they're mine. But they don't sound like mine. And they say things that I don't mean.
The voices have always been there. For as long as I can remember. They're all squished together, every sentence another voice, and sometimes it's hard to understand anything they're saying.
I've learned to tune them out. It's not too hard. I can make them quieter than the voices of the people around me. But sometimes I get caught up in what they're saying.
History is so lame. When's lunch again? I wonder how I'm going to get all my homework done. My stomach hurts. Bunnies are so cute! I'm dying. Luanne's hair looks like a wig. I'm a pirate. How come I can't grow tomatoes out of my ears? Ugh, mom is so annoying. Samantha's pretty hot.

I love history. Lunch is in two hours. I know exactly how to get my homework done. My stomach feels fine. I'm petrified of rabbits. I am very much alive. Luanne's hair looks fine to me. I am not a pirate. Why would I want to grow tomatoes out of my ears? I love my mother. And Samantha's not my type.
