Definitely a premise for a continuation. An intriguing build-up for the main plot line. I hope that you write more.
I agree with your response to Appeman. Sometimes critism can take a sharp turn, stab you in the back, and leave you bleeding inside.

This is a great story! Although, it would be better if there were chapters. It seems like there should be more. Like, how her parents died, for example, and about her Aunt. There were a few grammar mistakes that can be easily fixed.
Other than that, I enjoyed this short story. Good job!
This is actually rather intriguing. I hope it is the beginning of a series of pieces or the start of a longer story... The reason I say that is that you have successfully negotiated the trickiest of hurdles when writing a story: grabbing the readers' attention and HOLDING IT. Well done!
